BiG Project online and on radio!
Free practical advice on how to survive the credit crunch for new and small businesses has been having a weekly airing on Sheffield’s own community radio station.
‘The Electric Village’ programme – which has broadcast every Thursday morning between 9-10am on Sheffield Live! 93.2FM – was launched in 2008 as part of a drive to create and sustain a new generation of entrepreneurial talent from the city.
The hour-long slot helped market and support the Digital Entrepreneurs scheme, part of the BiG: Make it Your Business programme.
Deborah Egan, Director of Sheffield Independent Film, said The Electric Village acts to develop positive connections between industry and young talent:
“Digital Entrepreneurs is all about enabling talent and ideas by providing hi-tech support, mentoring and new digital routes to market. The Electric Village programme compliments our online website by providing an audio alternative to the web presence.'
“It can be listened to at home, in the car or when you're travelling - bringing you up to date with the latest business developments and hearing from other entrepreneurs in the city. The radio show will allow us to broadcast our message to new communities and encourage individuals across the city to take up the BiG offer."
The first edition featured the work of the BiG Enterprise Coaches and the entrepreneurs themselves. It included Fuchsia Darley a local make up artist who showcases her work in the Electric Village, Brian Dempsey of DCS cleaning services who employs local single parents in a commercial cleaning service and Nathan Ropers’ social enterprise Stuff-in Oatcakes.
