BiG PR Summary

BiG: Make it Your Business has finalised its 2009 Calendar incorporating some of the programme’s highlights from across 2008.  

 

Work is underway on a leaflet explaining the service offered by the Enterprise Coaches in the community and this will be available in the New Year.

A selection of ‘BiG success stories’ were chosen to take part in filming for an exclusive BiG: Make it Your Business DVD. The filming took place at Winter Gardens where BiG clients talked about their experiences and how BiG: Make it your Business had helped them to set up in business.

 

 

The latest edition of ‘BiG News for Schools’ was issued

last month. The schools newsletter included an exclusive interview with Sonia Sharp and an update on The BiG Challenge.

 

Following the success of the first BiG Challenge teaching pack, work is underway for the second eight page teaching resource available in the new year.

 

Up and coming band Little Man Tate visited Myers Grove School and we were there to capture the musicians talking about their business experiences.

16 members of the BiG: Make it Your Business team took part in media training. The session involved discussions about ‘what journalists really want’, ten ‘media dos and don’ts’ and ‘how to handle the press’. The key aim of the session was to explore how case studies can be used to promote BiG: Make it Your Business and what information is needed in order to turn a client story into a strong case study.

 

 

Procurement Made Easy

 

The BiG ‘Procurement Support and Training Programme’ leaflet was designed outlining the training and support available to organisations so they are better prepared to compete for council contracts.

Ruth Badger, star of BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’, was key note speaker at The BiG Franchising Fair on 27 November. Exhibitors showcased franchising opportunities available in Sheffield and a variety of seminars took place throughout the day offering attendees advice and support on setting up a new business. 

Launch of this year’s BiG Challenge in October.  To support the launch, a teaching pack was designed to encourage the students to begin to think about running their own business.

 

Launch of Digital Entrepreneurs Electronic Village

 

October saw the launch of BiG’s Digital Entrepreneurs, Electric Village project at The Forum on Division Street. The launch event was opened by Martin Ware from Heaven 17.
