Cutting the Red Tape
A state-of-the-art education and training environment in Sheffield was launched on Tuesday 2 December 2008, providing the city’s students with some of the most advanced facilities in Europe.
Thanks to support from South Yorkshire Objective 1, BiG: Make it Your Business and DCSF national 14-19 Diploma programmes, Red Tape Studios in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, has undergone a £1million transformation in to Red Tape Central. This puts the facility at the cutting edge of hands-on training and technology enhanced learning. The building, which first opened 21 years ago, has been kitted out with broadcast-standard AV equipment, new wireless computers and workspaces for youth enterprise teams.
Diploma students will be able to access Virtual Classroom events in three different ways. There will be four virtual venues at the City Learning Centres at Myers Grove, Notre Dame, City and Yewlands schools. Each of these venues will be equipped with high quality screen, sound and voting equipment providing two-way video and audio interaction with the central hub at Red Tape.
