Budget Moves

Shirecliffe-based, Neil Thompson, went to Sheffield City Council's enterprise team after being on benefits for a number of years. As a single parent, Neil could not work full-time, but when his son started school, he transformed his life and started up his own business.

 

Although Neil had experience of working for a removals company, he went to BiG for help in putting together a business plan, marketing his business and for access to funding to set up his own removal company, Budget Moves. Almost two years on, 37-year-old Neil employees another worker and has diversified from just removals to waste removals, house clearances and storage, and he now hopes to expand into the recycling sector.

 

Neil Thompson urges other people to consider setting up their businesses and values the support available. He said: “Go for it, if you don’t try then you won’t succeed. The team has been there when I need them.”
