Pasture's NewA new Sheffield business is in full bloom after a former hospital worker decided to nurture her passion for flowers. For 25 years Linda Cotton was a support worker at Weston Park Hospital but recently decided to change career after seeing an advert for a trainee florist. She took a floristry course and soon set her sights on running her own business. Speaking of her ambitions, Linda said: “As soon as I started working with flowers I knew it was what I wanted to do. I worked for a couple of different florists but I really wanted to have my own business.” “A friend told me I might be able to get help to start up on my own.. I contacted the enterprise programme and they put me on a course to learn how to do my accounts and have helped me with my shop signage and advertising.” Whilst there have been a few set backs for Linda, with a leaky ceiling and floods putting a hold on work, her determination and passion for flowers has seen her open the ‘Pasture’s New’ florists in Walkley two weeks ago. Enterprise Director, Kevin Bennett said: “To make sure Pastures New is given the best chance of success Linda will continue to receive support and guidance from a dedicated advisor to help her through the often challenging first year of a new business.” |
