New Director for Team BiG

Kevin Bennett is the new Director of BiG - Make It Your Business, Sheffield's programme to increase entrepreneurship and business start-ups in the city – part of the Government funded programme; Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI). 

 

For the last seven years Kevin has managed the successful South Yorkshire Objective 1 programme with 500 projects and a combined expenditure of £2bn.  This included various activities involving business support, social enterprise and capital programmes to create new workspaces.

 

Kevin said: “BiG is a great programme and a fantastic opportunity for Sheffield.  Working with a range of other organisations across the city BiG will help to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurs and accelerate the number of business start-ups. Our ambition is for BiG in Sheffield to be regarded nationally as exemplary and have a reputation for quality service that delivers clear results.”

 

David Grey, Chair of the Local Economy Board that oversees BiG, said: “Team BiG is delighted to have a new director of Kevin’s calibre on board.  He played a major role at Objective One helping to boost the economic growth of the region and now he will play an important role for Sheffield to boost entrepreneurship.”

 

BiG focus’ on helping people living in some of Sheffield’s most disadvantaged communities to set up successful businesses, which in turn will increase employment opportunities and boost economic growth across the whole city. It will increase new start-ups, help existing businesses to grow, and reduce business failure rates.
