Pasture's New
A new Sheffield business is in full bloom after a former hospital worker decided to nurture her passion for flowers.
For 25 years Linda Cotton was a support worker at Weston Park Hospital but recently decided to change career after seeing an advert for a trainee florist. She took a floristry course and soon set her sights on running her own business.
Speaking of her ambitions, Linda said: “As soon as I started working with flowers I knew it was what I wanted to do. I worked for a couple of different florists but I really wanted to have my own business.”
“A friend told me that BiG: Make it Your Business might be able to help me start up on my own so I contacted them right away. They put me on a course to learn how to do my accounts and have helped me with my shop signage and advertising.”
Whilst there have been a few set backs for Linda, with a leaky ceiling and floods putting a hold on work, her determination and passion for flowers has seen her open the ‘Pasture’s New’ florists in Walkley two weeks ago.
Director of BiG, Kevin Bennett said:
“BiG has worked closely to help Linda to be her own boss. To make sure Pastures New is given the best chance of success Linda will continue to receive support and guidance from a dedicated advisor to help her through the often challenging first year of a new business.”
